About the Road to Monteverde
Monteverde is famously accessed via a winding mountain road — and yes, part of it is unpaved. However, our drivers are experienced on this route year-round and our vehicles are well-maintained for mountain driving.
Rainy season note: The road can be muddy from May to November. We use appropriate vehicles and have never cancelled a trip due to road conditions.
What You Will Find in Monteverde

Packing for Monteverde
Coming from Tamarindo's heat, the temperature change in Monteverde can be dramatic:
Pack a waterproof jacket, light layers, and closed-toe shoes for hiking. Leave the flip flops in your bag.
How Many Days Do You Need?
We recommend 2 full days in Monteverde to visit the main reserve, take a hanging bridges tour, and enjoy the town. Three days allows you to explore at a relaxed pace.

We operate the return route from Monteverde to Tamarindo daily. Book your return trip at the same time to secure your seat during high season.
